Men’s Grizzly Boot: Made to Order

It's hard to say whether I like or dislike my boots. The craftsmanship and quality is unquestionably excellent, nothing bad to say there. I find the comfort a bit lacking. They are not the type of boot I would want to wear all day as I find my feet hurting if I have to stand in them for too long. Also, after wearing them for the first time, I found the uppers were cutting into my ankles and left them sore for almost a week afterward even though I laced them loosely.

Now that I've worn them a few times, they seem to be breaking in a little, so I'm hoping over time they'll become more comfortable to wear for longer periods, but I'm still finding I have to tie the laces extremely loose so the uppers won't cut into my ankles.

Really supple boots and I find them very comfortable.

I’m typically between an 8 and 9 in leather boots depending on brand and on the last. This is a narrow last - I got these in size 9 and the toe box is still quite limiting. After some good wear and probably 30-50 miles of walking the fit has loosened up some, but if I bought again I would buy in a 9E as opposed to a 9D. It would be the first, and probably last time in my life I’d have to buy a “wide.” Sometimes if a last is narrow then a half size up can give you more room but here I’d already sized up as much as I’d be comfortable with.

Otherwise, these are great for my purposes as I was looking for a higher boot with a minimalist and earthy feel, as opposed to the chunkier service style boots that are more common. I’ve seen suggestions to go a half size down - that, to me, seems highly mistaken. I’d call these true to size and notably narrow.

Very tight fit in length and width and a flimsy tongue!

I can't say enough good things about Quoddy. These boots are amazing and the staff is wonderful. It's hard to imagine a better company to do business with.
